Tour Reviews
Just wanted to drop you a note to say how much we enjoyed the tour last week and how much we appreciated you giving us your time. It certainly refreshed my interest in history and politics and was a great insight into the real life aspect of what we knew a little about before we met. Belfast is a wonderful city and the people are so welcoming.

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your company and efforts with us on Monday. We were all deeply impressed with the way you tell your story and your honesty and frankness with the three of us. As you know, it was a bit of a personal journey for me that brought back many memories – not all pleasant. I was able to confront them, lay some ghosts to rest and left with an incredible positive attitude for the future.
Here are my thoughts (feel free to use them wherever it helps in giving testimonials.
Our group of 25 University students toured the UK for 3 months visiting a variety of sites. The students overwhelmingly told us that their two days with Coiste were among the most deeply moving and thoughtful of their entire trip. The guides were so knowledgeable but also willing to tell personal stories that allowed us to connect the place with the events in a more meaningful way. The discussion with the two hunger strikers completely changed the way most of the class thought about much of the conflict (which they had read about in books). I can’t recommend these tours highly enough. I hope to bring students back again and again.

It (the tour) gave me a more inside and bigger picture of what the conflict means to peoples’ everyday life. I don’t think I would get this opportunity otherwise.

Thank you very much for the fascinating tour of West Belfast. My brother and I found your insight and personal experiences extremely interesting and enlightening.
I have learned so much from you and have a much better understanding of what really happened in you country. I feel you gave a very fair perspective of both sides of the political and social conflicts in Belfast. Your tour was the highlight of my entire trip!
Enclosed you will find a photo CD with all of the pictures I took on your tour. I think you will really enjoy them. I feel they capture the essence of West Belfast’s politics and local flavour. Also you will see the photos I took the day before in East Belfast. I think you will find the contrasts quite interesting, and representative of both political points of view.
You have my permission to reprint the pictures or use them in any way you choose. Reprints can be made very easily at a photo kiosk.
Thank you again for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Please let me know if I can ever assist you in any way here in America, I hope you can eventually make it to America and visit Seattle!

I thought the tour was extremely useful as part of our course. It allowed us to actually see what the consequence of the past has affected the main areas involved.
I enjoyed hearing the stories and history of what happened from someone who was actually involved. Helped to understand why they did what they did.

It was a great success and much appreciated by all. Certainly the class discussion about the tour was lively and proved that they really learnt a lot from the experience, as well as from both sides. In fact, I would be keen to aim to have a longer session with Coiste next year – so that’s a very good sign!

Excellent, speakers were all excellent all conveyed and emphasised the same major points. Excellent job of presenting the struggle as a function of British occupation not a religious conflict or “terrorist movement” as commonly portrayed by British or us media.
